Where did 2015 go? I swear it was only just last week when I was fretting about turning 25 this year, and now here I am fretting about turning 26! I guess some things just don’t change!
But, alas, 2015 is over. Time to review 2015’s New Year’s Resolutions and prepare some more for 2016!
Yes, I am one of those people who make New Year’s Resolutions and, yes, I am also one who doesn’t often keep to them! But this year, I did pretty well. Let us recap!
- Lose some weight.
I set myself a goal weight and I reached it! Watching what I eat and a bit more exercise paid off! Unfortunately, I don’t think it was enough, so this resolution will make a comeback this year!
- Finish my book!
This I did (mostly, I want to go over it again in case I can improve it any more, but that will be the last edit!) and not only that, I submitted it to a publisher! So, success!
- Learn Italian.
Now, this one did not happen. At all! I chose this language because I was planning on going to Italy during the summer with my family and thought it would be cool to speak the language when I went there. Didn’t happen.
There were a few more resolutions, but I actually lost the list of resolutions but let’s assume I completed them too!
This is why this year there will be at most 5 resolutions, and here they are:
- Lose more weight!
But I will do this by starting to jog in the mornings. Yes, you heard me right! I am going to get up early voluntarily to jog! But I am not diving in head first, I am starting off with two mornings a week for a while, and then this will increase to three times a week, then four and then we will go from there. Not only this, but I will seriously change my diet. I am looking into diet changes and will make a choice very soon. But all this Christmas chocolate isn’t helping!
- Finish another book.
I am currently working on two novels right now: the sequel to my first book and another book entirely. Finishing either one would be great! But I am also going to start working on a completely new project, which I also want to finish this year. This resolution is quite the mammoth task but I am up to the challenge!
- Improve my Russian.
I know, this may have come out of nowhere but let me elaborate. My fiancée is Latvian but speaks Russian as well as Latvian. Not only this but the majority of her family speak Russian as a first language so I thought it’s only fair to learn it myself. I can speak it a little already, but only one or two phrases with a couple of random words thrown in there. I am not saying “Learn Russian” because to learn a language as complicated as Russian in a single year is lunacy, hence why this resolution is to advance my Russian.
- Post on my blog weekly
I have decided to post at least once a week on my blog, in any category (general update, writing, science, gaming, technology or reviews). I think I can keep up that pace, and I will try and post on Mondays if I can. Not only am I going to try and blog once a week, I thought it would be fun to try and start a video blog, but I will post about that independently later!
- Further my life goals.
Yes, this is a vague one, but a very important one. I have a clear goal in life in what I want to do for a living once I have the experience, which is to be a freelancing web developer. This means I will have to have a lot of coding knowledge and know-how. The best way to do that is experience and practise. Experience can be gained at my new job (which I started just before Christmas) and practise can also come from my new job but also practising in my own time and approaching charities to offer them free website improvements. I have some plans and some contacts to help me out, so I need to start making some headway on this!
I think that is a pretty good list of resolutions which I can stick to. I am going to try my hardest to make all of these resolutions a reality.
